Jason William Savela

For over 7 years, I have served as faculty at the Trial Lawyers' College, dedicating several weeks annually to teaching advanced trial advocacy skills to the nation's top personal injury and criminal defense attorneys. Our methodology centers on authentic storytelling—we listen deeply, understand motivations, uncover truth, and advocate zealously in the courtroom. This approach has proven highly effective in achieving justice for our clients. For more information or to find a TLC lawyer in another state, please visit the Trial Lawyers College Website.

Over the past decade, I have developed a robust personal injury practice while continuing to defend clients against false allegations of sexual assault and domestic violence in Colorado criminal courts, as well as at Title IX and university sexual misconduct hearings and appeals. Our firm also represents students in state and federal litigation against educational institutions for violations arising from Title IX investigations and hearings, including due process, Title IX, and contractual claims. We handle the full spectrum of criminal matters and personal injury cases, including motor vehicle collisions, commercial truck accidents, rideshare incidents (Uber/Lyft), civil rights violations, and ski-related injuries.

I try cases at all levels of Colorado state courts and Federal courts. Likewise, I have been retained on cases from Hugo to Durango to Holy Oak to Rangely, but the majority of my work is in Boulder — Longmont (Boulder County), Broomfield (Broomfield County), Golden (Jefferson and Gilpin Counties), Ft. Collins and Loveland (Larimer County), Greeley (Weld County) and Brighton (Adams County).

In 2002, I opened my firm in Boulder, Colorado. I represent individuals against the government and other powerful entities. Initially, 50% of my practice was defending those accused of driving under the influence (DUI, DWAI, DWI, OUI). The remainder was defending Domestic Violence DV, sexual assault, sexual assault on a child, theft, drug possession/sales accusations, and other felony and misdemeanor cases. Each year I have gained expertise in new areas, including: personal injury, restraining orders, regulatory license defense, civil litigation, sealing of records.

In 1997, I began my career as a Colorado Public Defender in El Paso County and later worked at the Adams County and the Steamboat office. My time as a public defender includes the successful defense of 1st Degree Murder, Aggravated Robbery, DUI, Domestic Violence, Sexual Assault, Violation of Custody Orders, Criminal Trespass, and other felony and misdemeanor cases.

I am a member of Colorado NORML Board Member (Formerly served as Secretary and Treasurer), National College of DUI Defense (NCDD), Colorado Criminal Defense Bar - Life Member, NORML Legal Committee, Colorado Trial Lawyers’ Association (Former Trial Talk Criminal Editor), National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and the Boulder County Bar Association (Former Civil Law Section co-chair).
