Jason William Savela

For over 6 years, I have been faculty at the Trial Lawyers' College, spending several weeks each year teaching trial skills and learning with the best trial lawyers in the nation. Our method successfully tells our story. We listen. We learn about motivation. We find the truth. It is the best way to get justice. For more information or to find a TLC lawyer in another state, please go to the Trials Lawyers College Website.

My primary work is defending false sexual assault allegations in Colorado criminal courts and at Title IX/University Sexual Assault hearings. We also sue schools in State and Federal Court for Due Process, Title IX, Contract, and other violations during Title IX investigations and hearings. I still handle all levels of criminal cases. I regularly have a couple personal injury cases, such as auto crash injury and ski crash injury.

I try cases at all levels of Colorado state courts and Federal courts. Likewise, I have been retained on cases from Hugo to Durango to Holy Oak to Rangely, but the majority of my work is in Boulder — Longmont (Boulder County), Broomfield (Broomfield County), Golden (Jefferson and Gilpin Counties), Ft. Collins and Loveland (Larimer County), Greeley (Weld County) and Brighton (Adams County).

In 2002, I opened my firm in Boulder, Colorado. I represent individuals against the government and other powerful entities. Initially, 50% of my practice was defending those accused of driving under the influence (DUI, DWAI, DWI, OUI). The remainder was defending Domestic Violence DV, sexual assault, sexual assault on a child, theft, drug possession/sales accusations, and other felony and misdemeanor cases. Each year I have gained expertise in new areas, including: personal injury, restraining orders, regulatory license defense, civil litigation, sealing of records.

In 1997, I began my career as a Colorado Public Defender in El Paso County and later worked at the Adams County and the Steamboat office. My time as a public defender includes the successful defense of 1st Degree Murder, Aggravated Robbery, DUI, Domestic Violence, Sexual Assault, Violation of Custody Orders, Criminal Trespass, and other felony and misdemeanor cases.

I am a member of Colorado NORML Board Member (Formerly served as Secretary and Treasurer), National College of DUI Defense (NCDD), Colorado Criminal Defense Bar - Life Member, NORML Legal Committee, Colorado Trial Lawyers’ Association (Former Trial Talk Criminal Editor), National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and the Boulder County Bar Association (Former Civil Law Section co-chair).
